What first comes to mind when you think about blockchain? Is it bitcoin? Cryptocurrency in general? Or maybe just technology. Regardless of how intimate your relationship with blockchain may be one thing is clear: it is impacting our world in fantastic ways. I believe that blockchain is something that the whole world can benefit from. Beyond the networks that are established by blockchain, the ledger itself can provide a lot of valuable insight for the world. Blockchain offers a decentralized and transparent way to store information and its emphasis on accountability and community is something that the world absolutely needs. This technology promotes ideas that will serve us in a multitude of ways on a global scale. As the building blocks of an extensive digital ledger, blockchain is stored on a network of computers and protected by encryption.

These building blocks are open source, or allowed to be openly viewed. Furthermore, because of the way that they are protected, no one is able to alter blockchain without the approval of the community that created it. The fact that blockchain is decentralized and open source provides a path to accountability through total transparency. This establishes culture in which community is prized and traditional hierarchical structures are challenged. It creates a space in which individuals are empowered to see their worth and encouraged to value their ideas as well.

This culture of accountability through transparency empowers all of the people involved in the transaction and changes the way that we think about our security and our autonomy. Blockchain is ushering in a new era. An era in which people are more connected and secure is coming to the forefront and changing the way that we engage outside of the digital sphere. It also provides the building blocks for networks that are spreading messages of positivity and holistic health through community engagement, like the HighVibe Network.

Making it common practice to collaborate in a way that promotes creativity and autonomy normalizes the idea that we live in a world with endless opportunities. As we normalize the idea that we live in a world filled with abundance we grow as individuals. As we take steps to ensure that individuals are able to access a multitude of resources, without having to do adhere to the standards of a singular central entity, we evolve worldwide. That is precisely what blockchain has the potential to do and that is why the world needs blockchain.
